The Kansas Vietnam Veterans and Family Reunion became the Kansas Veterans and Family Reunion, on the eve of Saturday, July 21st 2007, when then-President Dave Burditt handed over the 'Keys' to the Reunion to incoming president Lance McCune in a very moving ceremony on the Reunion Stage.
This summer, Veterans, their families and friends from all over the nation, will again meet on the 3rd weekend of July (19, 20 & 21), 2013 at Veteran's Point; Shady Creek, loop 3, El Dorado Lake; El Dorado, Kansas. Please visit the El Dorado State Park website for additional information.
For those of you who know Veterans who are returning from current conflicts; never pass up the opportunity to welcome a brother and sister home. Please let them know about our Reunion.
All veterans are welcome, any time, or any conflict.
We will have wristbands on sale for $3.00 each, and you will need one to get past the security gate on Veteran's Point (children 11 and under do not require a wristband, but you may purchase them as souvenirs if you like).
The registration table will be at the entry gate and you may purchase your wristbands there. Please feel free to buy as many as you like to help support the Reunion. Opening ceremonies will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning and announcements will be made throughout the Reunion for special events. Registration will be opened at 9:00 a.m. Friday July 19th and is still $3.00 each. We will have a convenient location for any donation located at the front of the stage for those who really want to help with the extra cash they don't spend on raffle and auction items.
We will once again be entertained with music by live bands. There will be auctions, opportunities to win, kids' entertainment tent, U.S.O. style show, food, drink and other vendors. The auctions and opportunities to win are used to fund the reunion's expenses and prepare for the following year.
We have some amazing plans, and are laying the groundwork for the future. We are certain all will be extremely proud of what is to come! We need volunteers who wish to become involved or wish to become a member of the new staff, to keep the proud tradition of this Reunion going! If you have a special idea, or something you would like to see included in YOUR Reunion; please contact us, and share what you have in mind so we can see if it may be included in future events. Who knows, maybe your idea could be used for the good of all.
Just a reminder, the entire point behind the shower house is "Off Limits" to vehicle traffic except for authorized vehicles that are allowed beyond the fence. There will be a marked 'escape path' for traffic to get back to the parking area, but there will be NO THROUGH TRAFFIC ALLOWED.
If you wish to volunteer, please contact us via the Staff Page.
SEE YOU THERE!
Lance McCune, President
